I was bored in class so I started doodling shh. istg kaisoo just makes me want to do stuff during times i should be doing something else i just cant ok cries
So, today I'm going to give out a few writing tips since this was requested by this little adorable anon ;; Still, I would like to point out that unna had posted a very helpful post on writing too, so maybe you could click the link and check hers out too! I'm just going to add a few and maybe elaborate a bit as well. Just some food for thought before you start your journey to write!
Now let's go.
Read to achieve.
Unna has mentioned this in her post. This is a very common tip, but is very essential and surprisingly most people find it trivial. Remember how our parents and teachers are trying to force us to read and with the nilam and all that stuff? Yeah well, listen to them. Of course, everyone reads. Who doesn't. It's all about reading the right materials.
Fanfictions are fun to read, but it's best if you go for books that are written by experienced authors since they know more on how to focus on plots and stretching a story. My personal favorites would be: Olivia Drake, the famous J.K. Rowling, Mitch Albom, Nicholas Sparks, Robin Sharma and the list goes on. I would also like to recommend reading the Reader's Digest magazine. Every flip of a page is like a full print of new words of wonder and plus, it's very entertaining.
Reading helps you to expand the field of your vocabulary. The more the vocabularies, the better! Play with your words. Your microsoft is your playground - and have a blast with it. By reading, you do not only expose yourself to new vocabularies, but you could also learn a few writing skills that may come in handy when you decide to get a little creative. And by reading itself, you can actually learn a lot of things.
Keep your books close, and your dictionary closer. If you happen to found a new word that you've never encounter, then look for the meaning and the synonyms and antonyms. And if the dictionary can't help you, google is always happy to assist.
Communication Doing a lot of interactions are very helpful too. Just grab your parents, uncle, sister, cat or just basically anyone and have a chat. This will help you strengthen your confidence on your English and it will also help you gain ideas. Ideas comes from experience. And to get experience, you will have to push yourself out there and communicate. I know it's a lot more fun being antisocial and all. But trust me, it's going to be worth it. Handling prompts If you had a prompt in your head but still couldn't elaborate on it yet, it's okay! Grab a piece of paper and a pen and right it down. Remember to keep it somewhere you could look back on it. Go slowly as you try to think of how to make it better and stuff. Put some music on because sometimes, the lyrics can be very helpful too. Everyone loves a little music, so this is your chance to make use of it as a benefit. Write with joy, and through that it'll show on your story. Don't do it by force. If you can't do it yet, shut down your laptop and go grab yourself some hot tea. Have some me-time and just pamper yourself. Give yourself a little push so that you can go back to typing. Train yourself Think of a word. Any word. Then try to make a sentence out of that. Don't make it five words long, challenge yourself. This is something a friend of mine at school has been practicing for quite some time now and she's improving rather diligently. And once you think that you're used to doing sentences, move on to creating a paragraph, then a story. Of course, this is for practice. Doing this requires another persona who could help you to correct errors. Do as much as you want, and be willing to accept corrections. It's not much but I do hope these are helpful enough to support you when you start typing soon ;; If you still have any questions pertaining on this matter, then you're more than welcome to ask! Hopefully this applies to you as much as it does for me and keep on writing ouo Also, I'm going to be a little busy starting today because finals are coming up and I still have no idea how to score for physics [rolls on da floor] maybe after exams and when I'm not too busy, I'll add some more tips. happy writing, and take care of yourselves ♥ |
